Cantonese Claypot Rice (Instant Pot Claypot Rice) Chinese Cooking Simplifed

You’ve probably heard of the Instant Pot ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

But these simple & easy to follow recipes work with any pressure cooker! All pressure cookers work on the same, simple principle: Steam pressure.

Within the sealed pot, the steam builds up therein to a very high pressure, which helps food cook much faster than other traditional methods, such as with crock pots and or ovens!

delicious claypot rice 煲仔饭 cooked in an Instant Pot. The Instant Pot brings out the flavors of the preserved meats, such as Chinese sausages, preserved pork belly and salt brined duck. The Instant Pot cooks rice perfectly. Best of all, you don’t need a claypot to make this dish. Recipe is below:

Recipe is below:


6 Chinese sausage
6 to 8 oz. preserved pork belly
4 to 6 oz. salt brined duck leg
3 cups rice
3 cups water or chicken broth
1/2 cup chopped cilantro (optional)

cut up Chinese sausages in half, or smaller. cut preserved pork
belly into 1 1/2 inch wide pieces. cut duck into bit sized pieces.
Rinse rice 5 to 6 times in cold water. put rice into Instant Pot.
Add water or broth. Add Chinese sausage, pork belly and chicken.
Cook at high pressure setting for 8 minutes. Natural release pressure
for 15 to 20 minutes. Serve on a nice plate, bowl or claypot dish. Top
with cilantro if you love. Enjoy!
