Garlic Mashed Potatoes Recipe

►1 1/3 cups whole milk (or half and half)
►6 cloves garlic, crushed or minced
►1 1/2 tsp salt, or to taste
►8 Tbsp unsalted butter, softened, plus more to serve
►1/4 cup sour cream, optional
►2 Tbsp chives, to garnish
