How to make Zongzi: sticky rice dumplings in the instant pot |粽子 | Mom’s cooking skills

You’ve probably heard of the Instant Pot ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

But these simple & easy to follow recipes work with any pressure cooker! All pressure cookers work on the same, simple principle: Steam pressure.

Within the sealed pot, the steam builds up therein to a very high pressure, which helps food cook much faster than other traditional methods, such as with crock pots and or ovens!

Cooking instructions:
1. Wash and soak bamboo leaves in warm water for 30 minutes
2. Boil the leaves for 15 minutes
3. cut and prepare home made bacon, Chinese sausage, and ham
4. cut and marinate pork strips in soy sauce and five spice powder
5. Add soy sauce and five spice powder to chestnuts and cashews
6. Wash dried shrimps, then marinate with Chinese cooking wine and sesame oil
7. Wash salted duck egg yolks, then add a little Chinese cooking wine
8. Wash the sticky rice and add some water, the more water the softer the dumplings; also add soy sauce to taste
9. Wrap the ingredients in bamboo leaves and tie with double strand cotton strings
10. Pack tightly into the instant pot and add water to max level
11. Cook on high pressure for 20 minutes and then let it sit for another 15-20 minutes
12. Release the pressure fully before opening the lid
13. Unwrap and enjoy Zongzi!
