LA Galbi Recipe:
2.5 – 3 lbs Flanken Steak / KBBQ Short ribs cut
½ cup soy sauce
½ yellow onion (about 1 cup)
5 garlic cloves
½ an apple (red delicious, fuji, gala, etc.)
1 thumb size ginger
¼ cup brown sugar
½ cup mirin
¼ cup sesame oil
1 teaspoon kosher salt

In a blender (I’m using the Instant Pot Ace Plus Blender) add all the ingredients and blend on smoothie or pulse function for about a minute. Pour marinade into a container and add the flanken steaks making sure each one is completely covered in the sauce. Marinade for anywhere from 6 hours to overnight. The longer, the better.

When ready to cook, add the steaks plus 1 cup of water to the inner pot of the Instant Pot Duo Crisp + Air Fryer and pressure cook on high for 2 minutes. Remove the meat into the air fryer basket and don’t throw away the leftover sauce. Save it for later – cook down / reduce to drizzle over rice. Clean and dry the inner pot completely and put the air fryer basket back in. Swap out the lid to use the air fryer lid and press air fry for 6-8 minutes (time depends on how thick the cut of meat is) at 400 degrees. Turn the meat halfway through to brown evenly. Remove and garnish with sesame seed and green onions. Enjoy with rice, kimchi, and spicy pickled cucumbers.
