Instant Pot Beef Birria Recipe | Birria de Res (Cook With Me)

You’ve probably heard of the Instant Pot ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

But these simple & easy to follow recipes work with any pressure cooker! All pressure cookers work on the same, simple principle: Steam pressure.

Within the sealed pot, the steam builds up therein to a very high pressure, which helps food cook much faster than other traditional methods, such as with crock pots and or ovens!

Hola! Hola! Fall is here! Although here in Southern California it’s still not cold the holidays are fast approaching, so that means lots of yummy recipes. Today, I’ll show you how to make beef birria in my Instant Pot. (If you’d love to make it in a regular pot you can still follow the same steps.) This is perfect if you want a fast and simple meal, and if you don’t have 3 hours to make it. You can just throw in all of the ingredients in your Instant Pot and let it cook.

Ingredients for Birria
6 lbs of chuck beef (or beef for stew)
15 Chiles Guajillo
10 Chiles de Arbol
4 Bay leaves
1/2 tsp of powdered cumin
1 tbs of Mexican Oregano
Black pepper to taste
Coarse Kosher salt to taste
1/4 of an onion
2 garlic cloves
6 to 8 cups of water to make broth

Ingredients for the Salsa
4 cups of chiles de arbol
4 table spoons of olive oil or your oil of choice
1 table spoon of mexican oregano
1/2 tsp of powdered cumin
1 garlic clove
1/8 of an onion
Salt to taste
Cup of water
