Instant Pot Pongal | Ven Pongal | Video Recipe Step by Step

You’ve probably heard of the Instant Pot ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

But these simple & easy to follow recipes work with any pressure cooker! All pressure cookers work on the same, simple principle: Steam pressure.

Within the sealed pot, the steam builds up therein to a very high pressure, which helps food cook much faster than other traditional methods, such as with crock pots and or ovens!

Pongal is a breakfast dish originating from South India. Pongal acquire its name from the tamil word pongu which means to “boil over”.

Two of the most popular types of pongal are Chakara Pongal and Ven Pongal.

Chakara means sugar and ven means white in tamil. Thus chakara pongal is a sweet dish and is quite often made with new rice during the harvest festival (which is also called Pongal).

Ven Pongal on the other hand is mildly spicy and is often eaten for breakfast in the southern states of india.

Pongal can be made in the Instant Pot quickly and easily. Hope you love it!
