In honour of this Lunar Chinese New Year, l made this Kuih Bakul or Nian Gao also known as Tikoy in Hokkien or Chinese New Year’s Sticky Cake.
Making it in a traditional method is a time consuming task, however, today with the invention of instant pot love Pressure Cooker, we can cut the cooking time to only 45minutes, sounds great, isn’t it?
Today, l would love to share with you the simple and faster method of making this delicious cake.
Basic nian gao only needs 4 ingredients to make:
300 gm glutinous rice flour,
300gm sugar,
370ml water
1tbsp vegetable oil.
The 4 ingredients are mixed together and then steamed until it’s cooked through.
