Split Pea and Potato Soup Instant Pot Pressure Cooker Recipe Vegan

You’ve probably heard of the
Instant Pot ¯\_(ツ)_/¯But these simple & easy to follow recipes work with any pressure cooker! All pressure cookers work on the same, simple principle: Steam pressure.
Within the sealed pot, the steam builds up therein to a very high pressure, which helps food cook much faster than other traditional methods, such as with crock pots and or ovens!
When the weather turns cool, my mind turns to a nice, warm, hearty bowl of soup. And what could be easier than making some delicious Split-Pea and Potato soup in my Instant Pot electric pressure cooker? Not much! Here’s how simple it is:
6 c water
1 lb green split peas
3 small russet potatoes, chopped
4 big carrots, cut into fat coins
1 medium onion, chopped
4 stalks celery, chopped
2-4 cloves pressed garlic, depending on your taste preference
1 t. liquid smoke (optional)
1 t. salt (optional)
Add all the ingredients to your Instant Pot (or any other electric pressure cooker) and make sure the vent pipe is set to “sealing” rather than “venting.” Press the “manual” button and adjust the time down to 15 minutes. After processing, allow the pot to come back down to normal room pressure on it’s own (fast release is not recommended for safety with this soup.) Enjoy!
Don’t have a pressure cooker? No problem! You can make this on the stovetop. Bring 10 c of water to a boil in a big pot. Add all the ingredients and return to a boil, then bring down to a simmer, stirring occasionally, for 45 minutes or until done.
My name is Heather and I’m from Portland, Oregon. I am eating a plant-based, whole foods, unprocessed diet, with no sugar, oil, or salt, to take off weight and regain my life. I once weighed over 436 lbs and have released over 238 lbs eating this way and walking for exercise. I call my channel The Butterfly Effect because I believe that all the small choices you make, over time, add up and have a huge effect on your life. I wanted to show people love me who have 100, 150, 200 or more pounds to take off that it can be done and we can do it together. I am far from perfect and have struggled with compulsive eating and been overweight for all of my life, but there is hope for me and there is hope for you too. What can you do, today, to bring you closer to your goals tomorrow? Please consider giving my videos a thumbs up, commenting and subscribing. I would be incredibly grateful for your support on this journey!
